Budget Forms -

I'm hearing budget forms will be out by the end of the week.  It's great that downtown wrapped up the budget talks and K12 BRB early this year but remember, we are converting to a new budget system.  They have to test it out before releasing the forms.

While you were sleeping... -

No, it's not a movie reference...they just passed the budget early this morning, including the AEL override for next year!  I sent out the main items yesterday so you can do that calculation but this was loaded with a lot of pet projects.  I see that a handful of Districts got their wish list, including some on our team.  If this is how it's going to be under the Hobbs tenure then it is critical that you establish a relationship with your local legislators.  Some Districts got $300k, $100k, $20k...it's all very random but clearly they had someone saying, if you want my vote then this is what I want.  Next year, have someone say that for you so you can get taken care of too!  We have a budget deal done in the beginning of May and they will most likely Sine Die before the holiday...feels like it's been awhile since we've been able to say that.  I can definitely pick out somethings that could have been better but overall it is better than I expected for this session.  For those of you who are going, see you at AASBO!
